Sammy Swindell outlasted Tim Kaeding to claim the 42nd annual Western World Championships at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz.

Swindell and Kaeding swapped the lead several times before the veteran maintained the top position for the last seven laps of the 30-lap feature.

Shane Stewart, who finished third, won the ASCS National Tour points championship.

Roger Crockett was the top-finishing Northwest Region driver, ending his season with a ninth-place run.

Mike Melwicks ended with an 11th-place finish in the first of two B mains. He earned a transfer position in the first of the two C mains by claiming fourth.

In the second B main, Justyn Cox was 10th and Austen Wheatley finished 11th.

Chad Groves was eighth in the second C main and Zach Zimmerly placed 11th in the first C main.

Washington natives Seth Bergman and Gary Taylor, who were both competing on the National Tour this season, each failed to reach the feature.

Bergman didn't start his B main after sustaining an eye injury Friday night from a clump of dirt while he sat in the stands.

Taylor won the first C main and finished 15th in the first B main.

Taylor ended the season 15th in the National Tour points. Bergman was 16th, only 89 points behind Taylor.
