Role within the ASCS Northwest Region: Scorekeeper/lineups/payout
Job away from the track: Retired after 30+ years in the grocery industry/currently a part-time worker for Kraft Foods
Years involved in sprint car racing in the Northwest: 15
Years lived in the Northwest: none
First sprint car memory: In 1975 at the Gold Cup in Chico, Calif. The track wanted to adapt to safer rules, including not racing to the yellow flag. There was a big meeting with the officials and as the flagman at the track, I was a part of that.
Other forms of racing involved in: I've worked with all of them -- modifieds, super-modifieds, midgets, late models, street stocks, motorcycles, dwarf cars, go-karts.
Favorite memories: My biggest memories would be at the Gold Cup, where we had basically 100+ cars and had to do a three-day show. In the late 1980s, I basically set up the point system, which was used to determine who would be in the feature. It's still being used now, I believe.
Goal for this year: Have fun, make sure the competitors get an equal shake and that we have a successful season.
