Series Manager –

Travis Brearty, long time flagman and 2011 race director for ASCS Northwest will be taking on more duties this year as Series Manager. Travis has a great passion for ASCS & the Northwest Tour and looks forward to the challenge, said Greg Burgess Region Director.

With my residence and full time employment now being in Arizona (Cocopah Speedway) I knew we needed a Northwest contact for the racers and a local leader for the series. I will be there to assist Travis and the Northwest region anytime requested. Thank you to everyone for their past and continued support of the American Sprint Car Series, Northwest Region.

I wish everyone the very best racing season ever and hope to see you at a race track soon.

Kindest Regards

Greg Burgess

Deatherage Named 2012 ASCS-Northwest Announcer/Press Officer

By ASCS-Northwest Media

Vancouver, Washington-  It is with great pleasure that the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region welcomes Ben Deatherage as the new announcer and press officer for the 2012 season.  Deatherage will be overtaking announcing duties previously held by his personal mentor Fred Rannard Jr. who had called the action since the series began in 2008.

“I know I have large shoes to fill with Fred not being here but I’m confident in my ability to deliver the same excitement to the fans like he could,” commented Deatherage, “I’m looking forward to working with all the great people in this organization as well as the facilities, teams, and drivers.”

In addition to calling races he will also be reporting the action through various stories and press releases throughout the year to keep fans informed and up to date.  Deatherage, 24, has been the regular announcer at the Cottage Grove Speedway for the last five years in addition to his heavy involvement with various other series and tracks.

The series begins action with the Spring Showdown at the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma on May 26th and 27th.  The American Sprint Car Series-National Tour will make their first ever appearances, alongside the Northwest region, at the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon on July 13th and 14th to start Speedweek Northwest while the Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Oregon hosts the group on Thursday July 19th.  As has been the tradition as of late Speedweek will conclude at Gray Harbor Raceway with National Tour in a double header on July 20th and 21st.

The American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region is the westernmost arm of the American Sprint Car Series sanctioning body located in the Pacific Northwest the series hosts 360 Sprint Car racing on dirt tracks throughout Oregon and Washington from May to September.  For more information on the latest news and stories about the series log onto their website at www.ascsnorthwest.com or www.ascsracing.com.
